Fees

A fee is charged for access to the Analytical Chemistry Core and the use of the instruments. These fees will help recover a portion of the costs associated with the operation and maintenance of the instruments. The Analytical Chemistry Core fees (and associated Facilities and Administration (F&A) fees) are revised annually based upon the Harvard Fiscal Year (July 1 - June 30). The fee structure is updated on the ACC website as soon as it is available. All charges are based on the fee at the time of service, not a previously provided estimate or price stucture from a previous fiscal year.

The HMS BCMP Department will invoice users on a regular (monthly) basis.

Fees are determined based on the primary institution of the user's Principal Investigator.

A per user fee of $125 will be charged for a one hour training session per instrument. If additional training is necessary, it will be billed at the hourly rate for the appropriate instrument.

Sample preparation Fees

Sample Preparation (Extractions)

The following procedures will be billed at the hourly rate ($65 per hour for Harvard, $68 per hour for Harvard-Affiliates and $136 for Corporate researchers).

  1. Bile Acids Extraction - 2 hours for every 10 samples
  2.  Protein precipitation, with or without drying and resuspension - 2 hours for every 24 samples

A high-volume discount is available. Analyzing a large number of samples together is more analytically challenging. This is because there can be column degradation and instrument sensitivity loss as concentrated samples are analyzed and the instrument gets "dirtier". Some sample cleanup is highly recommended for bulk analysis for greater reproducibility across samples. The following high-volume rates are offered:

Access Fees

  • Access fees are billed hourly or by sample, depending on the instrument.
  • Rates are billed by booked time and by real-time usage in excess of booked time.
  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid booking fees.

Training Fees

  • An instrument training fee is charged per user per instrument.
  • Training may be individual or in small groups (2-3 people), as scheduling allows.
  • All training sessions include:
    • Overview of the instrument and maintenance procedures
    • Tutorial on control and analysis software
    • Training sessions do NOT include user data collection.
